Seven Fields School is the first of a newly planned group of technology schools in the Swindon Council area. A full and comprehensive WiFi infrastructure envisaged from the planning stage dictated the voice communications deployment.
It was a priority to keep staff fully mobile and “in touch” in wherever they were teaching.
IP Office Ltd was chosen by Swindon Council to install and support a new Avaya IP Office 500 communications platform. The system was delivered with just one fixed handset (for reception) and the remainder as IP soft phones deployed to laptops and tablets.
Further enhancements included advanced Avaya voice mail, providing easy and effective automated messaging. All incoming messages have the ability to instantly forward to the correct member of staff’s e-mail, automating absence messaging and negating the need for post it notes.
Premi-cell units were deployed to integrate the mobile networks to fixed line to save costs.
The school is benefiting from easier communication between staff. In the event of school closures, messages can be instantly and easily changed to provide information and updates.
The Premi-cell units allow mobile calls be fully integrated with the fixed line communications platform; calls that normally cost pounds, cost pence or end up free of charge.
“We wanted a system that took advantage of our new build and technology deployment, a system that was easy to use and functional. All this and more was delivered by the Avaya IP Office. Support has been excellent, I know that should I have any requirements the IP Office Ltd post-sales team are only a phone call away” Karen Lucker, Business Manager, Seven Fields School.
